Harley -- Post 04 - Recipes?

*Harley's in his kitchen, a thick book on the counter near him, and although he's washed up a bit, he's still got a bit of dust, and some blood, on his t-shirt. He looks to be unharmed, though -- it isn't his.*

*a slight frown to himself, flipping the thick book closed again as he looks up to the Dreamberry camera*

All right... This book isn't helping. Does anyone know how to cook up a sand shark, from that desert outside the city?

*guess who managed to hunt a baby sand shark thing!*

Would that be a good idea? It's a lot of meat on that shark... I'm... kind of thinking even I won't be able to eat it all tonight, or fit the extra in the freezer.

...maybe if I rearranged the freezer in the cellar....

Well, if you don't mind sharing, I'm sure there are plenty of people who would love to try some, myself included.

I'd also be more than willing to help with the preparation, if you need a hand. I've been cooking for years and I'm accustomed to preparing a large amount of food.

And if you want to help too, that'd be cool. I'm... not all that great with cooking yet. I'm learning! But I've mostly just cooked bacon and eggs and stuff like that. And bacon cake. But I figured... I just... wanted to try sand shark, so I got one. I thought to make a cart to get it home with, and I got it home okay... but I really didn't think about what I'd do with all of it once I had it.

You think maybe you could show me some of what I should do for this? Should I make an announcement about having shark meat if anyone wants to try some? Shark barbecue for anyone that's interested?

Yes, I'd be more than happy to help. I've been cooking for a group of friends for over a year-- that, is-- I was before I came here, anyway. But, I would most certainly be able to show you how to prepare it using the methods I mentioned, and perhaps a few others as well? I suppose I should pack up all of my sauces and spices and take them along. Oh, and I do think that having a barbecue would be an excellent idea.

Well... I went to this little place with someone, once-- *and his grin fades a bit, becoming more thoughtful. He misses that someone still.* ....and there was something in the display counter called cheesecake. And he said it was cheese, shaped like a cake, so that's why they called it that.

So I figured, if you could have cheese shaped like a cake, why not bacon shaped like a cake too? ....so I messed around in the kitchen. It's mostly bacon meat inside, and eggs to hold it together... and some cheese melted on top to look like the frosting. And it's baked in the oven so it doesn't just get flat and messed-up looking in the pan on the stove. And I figured, since it wouldn't show on the outside, and the whole thing was kind of a big omelet anyway, it might be good to put mushrooms and tomatoes and stuff inside it too. And it really is good like that. *in other words, it's a meaty quiche-thing?*

....I could let you know next time I make one, if you want to try it? Which'll probably be... *another glance out the window at the shark in the back yard* ...um... the day after tomorrow or something?

Although, a cheesecake is more of a confection while bacon is, well...

But, if it's baked in an oven, then it wouldn't be as greasy as frying, and the mushrooms and tomatoes do sound nice.

Yes, I wouldn't mind trying it.

Actually, I... see, there're these packages of bacon you can get where it's all big chunks, instead of slices. So I cut off most of the fat and cook that up, for this. If there's too much oil in it, it doesn't want to stay together as well.

*guess who's discovered the "ends and pieces" form of his favorite meat.*

...I'll just make one later. It's easier than explaining it.

Really? Well, the grocery store I keep going to is right... *fiddle fiddle -- another map location somewhere in Somni, not too far from Espoir* ...here. It's in the cold meat section, near where they have the hams that're really big, that you just put in the oven and bake.

*these two could be a dangerous mix on the food count, huh. :D Harley's demon side is a complete carnivore.*

Ah, I see. I'll have to go there and buy it sometime.
