Harley -- Post 04 - Recipes?

*Harley's in his kitchen, a thick book on the counter near him, and although he's washed up a bit, he's still got a bit of dust, and some blood, on his t-shirt. He looks to be unharmed, though -- it isn't his.*

*a slight frown to himself, flipping the thick book closed again as he looks up to the Dreamberry camera*

All right... This book isn't helping. Does anyone know how to cook up a sand shark, from that desert outside the city?

*guess who managed to hunt a baby sand shark thing!*

*about to ask how he knew where he was, when the connection is cut.*

*and then he appears there. Have a surprised stare for a second.*

Whoah. How did you--?

[Shrugs shoulders] I am everywhere and nowhere. So it's easy for me to appear and disappear anywhere I please.

...But that doesn't make much sense. How-- *can't figure out how to even form the question, so he shakes his head and tries to set it aside to be figured out later. He goes to pull out a knife from the stand on the counter... the kid'd come over for a reason, after all.

It's right back here. *leading to the back door*

*the back yard is pretty big... and it's a good thing, because there's a huge shark lying in it, dragged in somehow... and the pieces for his makeshift cart are over beside the shed, disassembled for the time being. The shark's gashed up, and burnt all over, some spots more than others. While it's easy to see that it's dead, it's not as easy to tell what Harley managed to do that to it with.*

*and the malamute is tugging at part of its skin that's hanging there, trying to pull off something to chew on.*

Noireau... *a sigh, but he steps over and just cuts the scrap of it off for her, and she happily curls up with it, licking at it and gnawing at it*

Okay. So... I think this part's probably cooked well enough... how about you? *pointing to one of the seared pieces with a big cut through it*

[Follows Harley out to the backyard, spotting the huge shark right away. The cat boy was curious about the appearance of the shark, but it didn't raise much concern with the feline.

After Harley feed his dog,he was also offered a piece.]

It doesn't matter to me.

*if he didn't let the dog have what she was after, she'd just keep at it until she ripped it more. And probably got underfoot. And that just wouldn't be good. :(*

*takes the edge of that cut, and slices a nice strip of the meat right off. Here, have that? He'll try cutting some off for himself after.*

[Schrodinger graciously took the strip of meat, talking a moment to look at it. So far the meet looked normal, but there was only one way to find out if the taste was different too.

Biting off a piece, chewing then swallowing it, the cat boy allowed taste to settle. He then turned to Harley.]

It actually tastes the same...maybe a little better than the sharks at home.

*finishes cutting his off* It's better? *eyes his, and then takes a nice bite of it*

....

*chewing chewing, swallows... eyes the bit that's left in his hand* Well, I like it, I know that much.

And I was talking to someone just a moment before you called back... *yay time paradoxes?* I think I'll just have a barbecue here with this or something. Cook it out here in the back yard, and let everyone come try some, see what they think.

That's a good idea. [ Sinking his teeth into another piece as he eyes the shark.]

It seems like enough for a group of people to eat. [Thinks of something] Was it hard to catch the shark? Did you fish for it?

*it's certainly big enough... something like at least twenty feet, easily. Probably more, especially if it's not very big around, proportionate to a real water-shark. The adults are apparently 200ish, wtf.*

Fish for it? *not entirely sure what he means by that... finished with his piece already, he looks over the gashed spot and cuts them both off some more of it*

I um... I just sort of went out there and watched for that thing on its back that sticks up, and started throwing rocks at it. Got its attention like that... raced it back to the city and kept throwing stuff so it didn't lose me, and then once it got up on the pavement.... *a gesture to it, as though its wounds spoke for themselves* ....it was... actually kind of easy after that.

*...except that this story introduces the problem of how he inflicted those wounds on it, burnt it, and how he raced it back to the city. There was no car in front of, beside, or here behind the house, nor motorcycle. If kitty wants to actually puzzle over those sorts of details, anyway. Haha.*

[And Schrodinger will puzzle over the small facts that was not explained. He finishes the piece he had first and accepts the new piece. He raises an eyebrow at Harley's explanation.]

You raced the shark to the pavement? Wasn't it fast? In my world it's hard to outrun a shark, especially in the water. I'm sure sand sharks are able to swim pretty well in the sand.

[And while he's at it.] And how did you managed to bring it here? The desert is in the outskirts of the city and Espoir is in the middle. Did you carry the shark all that way?

*pauses, his second strip of meat halfway up to his mouth, and looks back at him. This wasn't what he was expecting.* I... um... yes?

*shrugs, gestures over to a corner where some contraption's lying, disassembled... a cart of some kind, using bike wheels, and evidence of a way to hook it up to something... but no sign of what it would be hooked up to.*

....I just... ran? I'm pretty fast. Then I brought it home on that.

*so many holes in his story. :| Kitty's welcome to try tearing it up if he wants, otherwise, just enjoy the shark meat! lol.*

[Schrodinger noticed the cart looking thing in the corner and that explained part of Harley's story. However, he was still iffy if this man was fast enough to outrun a shark in his habitat. Especially one that lived in the sand, wasn't it harder to run on sand usually?

And then Schrodinger noticed burnt marks on the shark, which he assumed happened during the cooking process, as well as some other wear and tear that couldn't be explain by racing or carrying the shark on a makeshift cart.

So very bluntly, Schrodinger replied.] You're hiding something~.

*cooking? Pff. If he'd already cooked it, he wouldn't be asking for recipes. And most of the shark's still raw.*

...like what?

*he seems to consider it explained. This look right here on his face? That's confusion.*

[Raw. Not that Schro cares...but that adds to the suspicion.]

I don't know, why don't you tell me. There is something about your story that doesn't add up. So I'm assuming that you're hiding something. [Shrugs shoulders] I could be wrong, though.

[Bites into the pieces of shark.]

*so very lost now* So... what doesn't add up?

Pretty much you outrunning the shark and hitting it with rocks until it followed you? That part doesn't add up. [Finishing his piece and placing his hands on his hips.] Did you even cook the shark? Why are there scorch marks on it?

*oh, that. Yeah, he's busted. ....question is, now, how to explain. And after the mess with Zero, maybe he really ought to? No one else seems to be making too great an effort at hiding their own oddities. Schrodinger certainly wasn't, anyway. And he'd really be surprised if no one else had ever seen him while he was out and about....*

*small sigh, eyeing the shark again for a moment, before looking back to Schrodinger.*

Okay... you know how you can just... go somewhere, like you did to come over here? Well... I can do some things too.

[Schrodinger listened carefully as the other came clean.] You can?

[ For some reason, Harley didn't give off the air that he had abilities of some sort. Maybe it was his humble demeanor that put the catboy off.] So what is your ability?

*Well, maybe not so much humble as simply entirely clueless, not really full of himself, and... just not quite getting it? It's hard to take someone as much of a threat, when they're the type to get childishly excited about bacon and stuff.*

*Debating on how to phrase it for a second, but finally just decides to say it plainly.*

....I can turn into a horse.

[Not what Schrodinger was expecting, but...] A horse?! [That explains outrunning the shark, but what about the scorch marks. He turns a suspicious eye to Harley.] And what about the burn marks on the shark?

....what about them?

I did those too.

*Harley, you fail. That explains nothing. :|*

As a horse, you place burnt marks on the shark? How? Stop being so vague.

*sighs*

Yes I burned it as a horse. I just... I don't know how to explain it. I just put out a horn and did it.

Um....[Confused, but he accepts it.] Well, okay.

*well, this is a fine change of mood.*

*he eyes Schrodinger again. He really hadn't intended to upset or annoy the kid, and it wasn't his fault that he couldn't explain how agi worked... and he'd seen Schrodinger's power to appear places firsthand, even if he still didn't know just how the kid did it.*

*and really, fair was fair, right?*
